Chick-fil-A Foundation Celebrates 2018 True Inspiration Award Winners with Weekend in Atlanta

The Chick-fil-A Foundation recently had the pleasure of honoring 23 non-profit organizations from across the nation during our 4th annual True Inspiration Awards weekend. Through the awards, the Foundation gives a total of more than $1 million each year – ranging from $20,000 to $100,000 in individual grants – to organizations working with children and youth.

On May 17, we welcomed our 2018 award winners and their nominating Operators to Atlanta for two days of learning, sharing and celebration at the Chick-fil-A Support Center, culminating in a red carpet gala — the capstone to their True Inspiration Awards experience.

“Being a True Inspiration Award winner is about more than receiving a grant from the Chick-fil-A Foundation,” says Rodney Bullard, Vice President of Community Affairs for Chick-fil-A, Inc. and Executive Director of the Chick-fil-A Foundation. “Winners are also equipped with meaningful tools, experiences and relationships that they can carry back to their communities and use to grow their influence.”

From an organization working to counter negative influences in the lives of inner-city youth in Detroit to a non-profit empowering young adults with autism to find their entrepreneurial passion in Colorado, our 2018 winners are, together, impacting hundreds of thousands of lives.

But, the founders of these organizations didn’t get to where they are on their own. They each had one person or one moment that served as a catalyst in their lives and caused them to choose the paths they did. To celebrate the incredible power and influence each of us has to create positive change, the theme of this year’s True Inspiration Awards was ONE.

Stacey Johnson, founder of winning organization Central Texas Table of Grace, had a particularly special story to share about how one person, Russ Hansen, changed the trajectory of her life. Watch her story below.

With a little help, the Foundation was able to locate Russ and invite him to the gala. And, in what was one of the most touching moments of the night, Russ walked on stage to surprise Stacey and present her with her True Inspiration Award.
