Three projects, two locations, one great day of service!
The Westside Volunteer Corps proudly answered Dr. King's call to serve with its January #MLKDay of Service. More than 500 Atlantans participated in the day, which included three projects across two locations, including Dr. King's alma mater, Washington High School.
As hundreds of volunteers sorted school supplies for Historic Westside community schools, dozens of others hosted nearly 100 area high school students for the #SecureTheBag College and Career Workshop.
The Workshop included speed mentoring and a Career Exploration Panel featuring SunTrust Bank's Joe Arnold, Goodie Nation's Joey Womack, Lifestyle Publications' Michele Willis, Village Micro Fund's Nathan Jones and Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation's Shameka Dixon.
A few miles away, 300 more volunteers rehab'd the The Salvation Army Bellwood Boys And Girls Club in English Avenue. Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms even stopped by to lend a hand!
Chick-fil-A Foundation serves as the founding sponsor of Westside Volunteer Corps, and this project was presented in partnership with The Mission Continues and Starbucks.
